At Own, we innovate to deliver ongoing value and provide solutions our customers will never outgrow. Every few months, we recap some of the new features and capabilities we've been working on. Below are some of our recent product releases and how they can improve your experience using Own. If you're more of a visual learner, we recently demoed several of these features in our new webinar series, "What’s New in Own." Watch on-demand here.
OWN RECOVER: ALL ECOSYSTEMS
Pause a Backup
Organizations often face resource limitations such as API calls, compute capacity, or team bandwidth that require them to pause backups for a specific period. Our new Pause Backup feature allows you to temporarily pause or archive a backup service for a specified period. Simply select the number of days you want to stop the backup service, and it will automatically resume after the specified period.
OWN RECOVER FOR SERVICENOW
Cross-Instance Restore
Cross-Instance Restore enables ServiceNow customers to back up tables in one instance and restore the data to another. This is ideal for restoring data to a sub-production environment for testing purposes before restoring to production, minimizing potential disruptions. Additionally, businesses in regulated industries can restore data from decommissioned instances to temporary ones in case of audits.
OWN RECOVER FOR MICROSOFT DYNAMICS CRM AND POWER APPS
New Product Name
In May, we renamed our Microsoft product to ‘Recover for Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Power Apps’ to align better with Microsoft’s commercial products. This name change reflects the exact applications Recover supports, with no changes to functionality.
Server-To-Server Authentication
Also, in Q2, we released server-to-server authentication for Recover for Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Power Apps. This method, recommended by Microsoft, enhances security by allowing users to assign access policies specific to an environment. Enterprise customers should be particularly interested in this update because you can now ensure you follow Microsoft-recommended security protocols.
OWN SECURE
Data Classification Advanced Filtering Templates
Data classification is a key component of maintaining your security posture. Advanced filtering templates allow you to create or use pre-built templates to streamline the data classification process. These templates allow you to easily drill down and find the correct fields to classify your data, making maintaining security posture as easy as possible.
Who Sees What Compare in a Single View
Admins spend significant time investigating permission issues and need to drill down into specific insights as quickly as possible. Examples include tracking down record visibility issues or checking if someone is over-permissioned.
Our new side-by-side comparison screen in the Who Sees What explorer allows users to identify and remediate permission gaps quickly. This feature simplifies tracking record visibility issues and managing user permissions, reducing the average time spent on user permissions by 80%.
OWN ARCHIVE
Creating and Editing Policies in Archive Console
We’re happy to share that Archive customers can now create and edit policies directly from the Archive Console, significantly reducing the time spent managing multiple orgs. The Console offers more sophisticated policy-building functionality and lookup management than the Archive Managed Package, enhancing the user experience.
Additional Sharing Objects
Previously, there were limitations on how users could configure Widget Restriction Rules. Admins could only restrict access to records associated with one share object. By adding more sharing objects, admins now have greater autonomy over what data end users have access to. They can restrict access on up to five objects’ records, offering much more flexibility and control.
OWN ACCELERATE FOR SERVICENOW
Anonymization Templates
Like Salesforce developers, ServiceNow developers are most effective when they can build and test applications using real production data. This provides the most realistic conditions for creating the ideal development and test environments. However, using production data for testing purposes can create the risk of exposing confidential or sensitive information to many people.
We've added anonymization templates to Accelerate for ServiceNow to mitigate this risk. With this new capability, ServiceNow customers using Accelerate can automate the masking of any sensitive data before seeding it to their dev and test environments.
OWN ACCELERATE FOR SALESFORCE
Seed from Backup
We recently introduced a feature called Seed from Backup for Salesforce in our Accelerate product, providing significant value to companies by allowing them to retrieve and seed data from backups. This feature is beneficial for scenarios like sandbox refreshes, training environment resets, and bug fixes, where specific data from a previous point in time is needed. It simplifies the seeding process, eliminating the need for time-consuming data exports and imports. Customers have reported a 90% reduction in seeding time, with some jobs now taking only eight hours instead of fourteen.
Levels Template: Hierarchical View
Data seeding should be as seamless as possible. Making data seeding quick and easy allows you to ramp up sandboxes quickly so you can spend most of your time on development, testing, or training. With Levels Template's Hierarchical View, customers can visualize the seed data hierarchy before seeding. This allows you to edit your Levels Template more efficiently and update the template to ensure it has the right objects before seeding to a sandbox.
